Strange Period Practices – Unveiling the myths, magic, and meaning behind periods across cultures.

Did you know that menstrual practices around the world reflect a mix of reverence, respect, taboo, and even misinformation? Menstruation has always been more than just a biological event — across cultures, it has been seen through the lenses of spirituality, purity, and power. It’s fascinating to see how different cultures treat something as natural as menstruation. In India, some regions celebrate menarche — a girl's first period — with vibrant rituals. For example, Assam observes 'Tuloni Biya', and Tamil Nadu holds the 'Manjal Neerattu Vizha' ceremony, celebrating the transition into womanhood. In Judaism, the concept of "Niddah" signifies a menstruating woman’s period of separation, followed by a ritual bath called Mikvah, symbolizing purification and renewal. Meanwhile, Nepal has the controversial practice of "Chhaupadi", where women are banished to huts during their periods — a custom now officially banned, but still followed in some rural areas. Wanna know about more such practices? Tune in to the next blog!

From stained PJs to sweet surprises, some days are saved by Mumma, Moodflip, and a little magic.

It was a beautiful day, I had to work from home, It had started raining mildly, So, I just put on my favourite pjs and went to the terrace garden and started sipping my coffee while I watched the downpour, I was lowkey happy, but at the exact moment I kind of realized that damnnn, that exact feeling, i rushed to the washroom and YESS I was right, I got down, In a time span of 10 minutes, I went from having fun and enjoying my own company to running around the house looking for pads while I had already stained my favourite pjs, ugghhh, annoyed asf I called my mom (because ofc it’s the moms who come to your rescue at the end moment) She yelled at me first for forgetting to restock (mandatory fr), then asked me to open the drawer in her cupboard and WHATT A RELEIFFFF!!! But there was something else with the pads too, as I went on to see closer, there was a box of Moodflip with my favourite flavours Blushing Berries and Hearty Hazel. I felt so happy that my mumma knows me so well, from knowing that I will forget to restock pads to knowing I can’t survive periods without MOODFLIP , it just amazes me, how our moms never fail to care. Be it random calls to check how I am doing to dropping little notes in my tiffin, or on days like this, simply leaving a trail of love by leaving love wrapped in a box of chocolates. That’s what today was all about. MUMMA, MOODFLIP and MAGIC.
